Corstiaan de Vries 1936 - 2008

Born in Rotterdam. Academie voor Beeldende kunsten Rotterdam. Worked in the beginning abstract (landscapes and hangings). Designed decors and costumes for ballet and also forfor the Rotterdams Toneel and the musical Swingpop (Seth Gaaikema). Worked as pianist for cabaret Lurelei. Moved in 1962 to Laren in Noord Holland. And discovered in 1965 the colorpencil. In 1976 he made his first portet. National fame came with the making of the portret of the then queen Juliana in 1973


From that moment on, he has been responsible for an enormous range of portraits of families, children and pets. His work can be found in national and international collections. Important expositions were in the Singermuseum in Laren, the Noord Brabantsmuseum in 's Hertogenbosch, the West Fries museum in Hoorn, and recently the van der Togtmuseum in Amstelveen and at Guus Röell Fine Art & Antiques in Maastricht. December 2007 his work has been shown in Lisse at De Oude Pastorie
